Our Work

Rotary of Westmoreland partners with local organizations to make an impact on our community in many different ways. We would love to connect with your organization and learn about the impact you are making on our community.

Medical Service Dogs for Veterans with PTSD

This fundraiser on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sobel's Obscure Brewery in Jeannette will help support a project that will allow the club to purchase highly trained service dogs from Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs for local veterans with PTSD.

The training and care that goes into these invaluable service dogs costs $25K per dog, so this fundraiser will help them raise matching funds in order to apply for a matching grant.

Why medical service dogs? On average, 22 of our veterans are dying by suicide every day. It's tragic,
heartbreaking, and unnecessary. Since its inception 15 years ago, Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs
has had zero participants experience death by suicide. Rotary of Westmoreland wants to help continue
this work, generate more support and awareness for this organization, and save the lives our veterans.

There is no admission cost and is open to the public. There will be a live band, food truck, raffle baskets,
strip tickets, 50/50, and service dogs in attendance as well as more information about Rotary of
Westmoreland, Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, and the grant.

Annual Coat Drive

ROW's annual coat drive has been providing coats, hoodies, hats, gloves, and other warm items to children, teens, and adults across Westmoreland County since 2009. Thousands have benefitted from this project including students at our local school districts, women and men displaced at shelters, babies and their siblings at preschools and daycares as well as seniors, veterans, and the homeless. Thank you to everyone who donates and supports this project, specifically Dale Cordial and the Jamie Cordial Hall Foundation.

Toys for Tots

On multiple occasions, members of ROW have volunteered to help sort toys and prepare them for distribution to local families at the Local Marine Toys for Tots Chapter's warehouse. In 2024, high school students from the ROW-sponsored Interact Club at Jeannette School District teamed up with club volunteers.

Annual Christmas Gifting

ROW's Christmas bar crawl raises money every year to purchase and wrap Christmas presents for local children whose families have fallen upon hard times. Working with local agencies and organizations to fulfill the wishes of deserving families, the club has provided cheerful Christmas mornings to hundreds of children and has raised more than $30,000 to support this project.
