Inspire a love of

Rotary of Westmoreland (ROW) partners with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the United Way of SW PA, the Fred Rogers Center, Greensburg Hempfield Area Library and Michael J. Kakos and Aimee Rusinko Kakos Foundation to develop and inspire young readers through a book gifting program that establishes a cornerstone to children’s literacy programs in our community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Our goal is to reach ALL children in Westmoreland County in the future. We currently are  enrolling children who reside in specially selected  zip codes .

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

We mail FREE hand-selected, age-appropriate, high-quality books each month to children registered in the Imagination Library. ROW and other  supporters cover the costs.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation. It reaches more children than any other early childhood book gifting program, and mails free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth until age five, no matter their family’s income.

THE PROGRAM

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book gifting program dedicated to sharing a love of reading with children around the world. Each month,  Imagination Library mails a high quality, age appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family.

 

Parents and guardians have shared their child's excitement when their new book arrives each month. Many groups like the Rotary of Westmoreland and individuals work behind the scenes to make that special moment possible for each child.

Imagination Library provides the infrastructure of the core program including managing the secure central database for the Book Order System and coordinating book selections and wholesale purchasing. It also incurs the cost of the program’s administrative expenses and coordinates the monthly mailings.
